Who is WhiteHirst Media?
Dr Martin Hirst, veteran journalist, communication strategist, writer and experienced media trainer, is the principal of WhiteHirst Media.
Martin began his journalism career at the ABC in the 1980s and has worked in the Canberra Press Gallery. He has also freelanced in print, broadcast and online journalism. Martin also has extensive experience in senior communications roles for the federal, NSW and Queensland governments and has done contract work with many agencies at all levels.
From 1993 to 2016, Dr Hirst was a journalism academic, teaching and researching at several universities in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. He is an excellent postgraduate advisor and mentor. Martin has written several books on journalism and the news media, including Navigating Social Journalism, published by Routledge in October 2018. With Dr Roger Patching he is currently co-authoring a new volume on journalism ethics.
